Kinetics Massage Therapies has participated in extensive training and successfully qualified to be able to offer a range of modalities which can be included within treatments at no extra cost!

Electrotherapy, Ultrasound and Kinesiology modalities can help to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with long term conditions and injury. They also help to speed up recovery by increasing blood flow, reducing swelling and enhancing the body's natural response to heal, meaning faster recovery -getting you back to normal function and what you enjoy.

Ultrasound Therapy

Therapeutic ultrasound is extremely good for treating acute (short term) and chronic (long term) injuries. It is a non invasive treatment that is conducted using a professional hand piece. It omits sound waves into the soft tissues helping to break up scar tissue and advance the repair and healing of any damages tissues. These tissues include muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments. As the sound waves pass through the soft tissue it creates heat, deep heating muscles and tendons during a controlled treatment can increase the 'stretchiness' of the tissue, improving range of movement, circulation and helping to decrease associated pain.

TENS

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a method of pain relief involving the use of a mild electrical current. A TENS machine is a small, battery-operated device that has leads connected to sticky pads called electrodes. The pads attach directly to your skin. When the machine is switched on, small electrical impulses are delivered to the affected area of your body, which you feel as a tingling sensation.

The electrical impulses can reduce the pain signals going to the spinal cord and brain, which may help relieve pain and relax muscles. They may also stimulate the production of endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) is used to facilitate strength training and re- education of muscles due to injury or long term conditions that cause reduced movement and muscle wastage.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape is predominately used to alleviate pain and facilitate lymphatic drainage in an injured area of the body. Following an injury, inflammation and swelling occurs which causes a feeling of pressure, pain and discomfort in that area. The application of kinesiology tape can lift the skin creating subcutaneous space. Increasing the space between the skin and the muscle helps to enhance the flow of lymphatic fluid which removes waste products and lessens the inflammation. The increase in space also helps to decrease the compression on various nerve receptors. This results in a less reactive response in the body, allowing it to work in a more normal manner.

Kinesiology tape is also used to support and stabilise joints during movement and has become increasingly popular within the sporting arena for this reason.
Kinesiology tape is also beneficial for correcting postural imbalances, preventing injury.
